I researched and prototyped the system to set the racing circuits, providing the Level Designer an efficient tool to implement the tracks he designed. This system also allowed Game Artists to integrate their assets in a modular way.
I designed and implemented the camera system, ensuring it stayed dynamically positioned behind the car while moving in a 3D space. The camera was tailored to provide a clear view of both the car and the road, especially during drifts, to enhance gameplay readability. The goal was to balance clarity of information with smooth, cinematic movements, creating an immersive and visually engaging experience for the players.
I developed the scoring system, rewarding players based on various performance metrics during races. Points are awarded for the time spent in first or second position, the total drift time, the number of overtakes, the use of boosts after a drift, and by winning radar battles. This comprehensive system was designed to encourage skillful play and provide a balanced yet competitive experience.
I integrated the vehicle UI with a focus on creating an intradiegetic interface. We designed the information display to use the car's back window, tires, and neon lights, ensuring that essential data was conveyed in a way that players could easily notice. This approach allowed players to keep their focus on the track and the car, enhancing both immersion and overall game feel.
